Commit App Reviews

Useless

Cant use horizontally. Locked vertically, as in an iPhone only app.

Very simple

Really easy to use. You can setup multiple commitments that will all be displayed as "I will <your commitment> today". Then the app will ask you if you did it today and keep track of how many times in a row you achieved your goal. One thing missing from my point of view: being able to setup a commitment to perform every x days. All commitments are not meant for a daily basis and the tip in the app description is not good enough.

Does not work

App crashes all the time.

Fantastic

The app is perfect and simple at the same time, kudos

Not functional

Reminders havent been working for me.

Great!

You should make it so if I forget to check mark "yes" on a day I can still check mark it. So I dont lose my streak :(. Kind of so I dont have to commit to my goal AND to the app everyday.

Crashes

This app is a great idea, but unfortunately full of bugs. I just downloaded the update and now it crashes as soon as I go to set a time. On both iPhone 4 and iPad 1st gen. Hope they fix it sometime soon.

Great app for habit formation

Highly recommended app if you are trying to kick or form a habit. Super simple, well designed, pleasure to use.

Disappointed

Reminders dont seem to work at all for me on ios6. Without reminders this app isnt much good for anything, please fix

push notifications dont work

ios 6 here, push notifications dont work.

24-hour format

Is it work?

Love the app for its simplicity

This app was created by Nathan Barry, the founder of ConvertKit and while the app maybe could use an updated UI/UX, there are no un-needed/wanted features. There are a few things you need to do in order to ensure all the features will work correctly but once setup this app does everything, well really the only thing I want it to do: TRACK MY DAILY COMMITMENTS. If you ever forget to mark a day as complete, you can check off to mark the previous day complete. And heres a little pro tip which is contrary to a lot of other peoples reviews: If you ever forget to check off a day that was more than one day ago then you can go into your devices settings and change the date back to whatever day it was that you missed. Once youve changed the date go back to Commit and mark that day as complete. And of course, finish the process by changing your devices settings back to todays date. Its a work around but when using this app on a daily basis Ive only ever had to do this twice and it doesnt take more than a minute or two. I highly recommend this app for people who want to track things they want to do on a daily basis like working out, writing, reading, studying, etc. Do you want to CREATE a habit? Then you need to COMMIT!

Good app but reminders not working

I like and use the app, but the reminders are not working properly. I have four commits set up and am not getting reminders for three of them. The reminders working correctly would help me tremendously.

Simple. REALLY simple. I love it.

Sometimes you want to pay for simplicity and this is it. You literally type a few words just like Mad Libs, set a daily reminder time and thats it. There are NO other options, so its very simple and you are buying it knowing this before you spend $1. My only slight issue is the phrasing... When setting a reminder, itll ask you to fill in the following statement: "I will ___ every day." I typed "I will TAKE MY VITAMINS every day." Now, the reminders ask "Did you take my vitamins today?" Therefore, just remember not to type "my" and the reminders will follow good grammar.

not bad, but ...

It seems that editing a commitment creates duplicate reminders, and the uninstall/reinstall dance just ends up creating yet another reminder. The UI is great but the reminders are buggy. Also, an interval other than daily would be nice.

Great idea

The concept is great. I wish there were ways to adjust the notification sound. Also the reminders arent working at all. I dont get a notification in notification center even though it is set up to show a banner...it doesnt make a sound or vibrate so this app is pretty much useless until this is fixed.

Good Start to a Nice App

Commit is a nice app. It does one thing--helps you track your efforts to improve your behavior--and does it well. It also boasts a simple, intuitive, and elegant UI that makes it a delight to use. I use it to track my progress in adhering to my New Years resolutions, and it works well. Here are a couple changes that would make it even better for my needs. 1. Allow the user to edit the order in which his commitments appear. My commitments are in daily chronological order, and it would be convenient to check them off in that order, even if they were not entered into the app in that order. This could look like a standard editable list, like "Favorites" in the Phone app. 2. Some of my resolutions only apply to my job (e.g., empty inbox by the end of each day), so it doesnt help to track them over the weekend. In fact, its depressing to see my "streak" interrupted each weekend. Commit would be more useful if it could adapt for workweek-only (or once-a-week/month) commitments. 3. Fix reminders as described by other reviewers. 4. Enable user to "uncheck" inadvertently checked commitments. 5. I too note the "phrasing problem" identified by other users. ("Did you take my vitamins today?"). I do not know how to solve this, but it would be impressive if you could. Thank you for creating this helpful app!

Impressive app

I think its nice and simple and works great for me, except a minor problem, whenever i try to set something at a certain time, it does not notify me at all, I have to open the app to see it, please fix!

Great idea but needs work

I LOVE the idea of this app and was excited to give it a spin. Unfortunately after 3 days with 2 commits set, Ive yet to revive more than one notification total. I hope they fix the bugs because I really want to be able to rely on it as a reminder of my commitments to myself.

Great app but needs a little bit of change

I accidentally missed clicking it one day (even though I did my project) and my streak is broken. I wish you could go back and check something off again. And the grammar needs to be fixed like others have talked about in the comments.
